OUTLINE: In January 99 Japan was considered to be behind Europe and the US in smart
mobile phones, today with over 7 million users Japan is the leader. This
incredible growth comes from ntt docomo I-mode (also j-sky and EZ web). The
situation of the Japanese mobile internet market is calling the attention of
the world. However, for foreign businesspeople in Japan the question is not
technical or anecdotal, but rather what market risks and opportunities these
developments bring Here and Now.
