"Japan.Com: between myth and reality" How can your business in Japan enter the .com channel today?
OUTLINE: Programme Schedule:
As shown in many publications and statistics, Japan is now witnessing
explosive growth of its e-commerce market. This growth is being followed by
a shift in the categories of products and services, which are sold on the
Internet. It has also crystallized and intense competition between Internet
Services Providers (ISPs), Application Service Providers, Shopping Malls,
door-to-door delivery companies, payment companies, etc... The following
questions are raised by foreign e-commerce companies aiming at the Japanese
market :
-Are Shopping Malls a good way of entering the Japanese market? What is the
profile of the Japanese e-client?
-What kind of services shall be included in the e-shop to attract consumers?
What are the ways to include them?
- What are the items to take into account, especially when targeting
Japanese customers?
- What can be done without having a physical presence in Japan?
In this seminar, we will look more specifically at the various ways European
Businesses based in Japan can leverage the internet to boost (or at least
secure) their market penetration. We'll also try to answer the
abovementioned questions with one conviction : according to what many
e-shops tenants confirmed us during our researches about e-commerce, there
is still a lot of room for growth for foreign e-shops in Japan.
